2007 Charity Quiz

2007 Charity Quiz supporting Cystinosis Foundation Ireland

Charity Quiz 2007The 2007 Charity Quiz was organised on a table basis with teams comprising two members. Each team sought to answer a set of twenty general knowledge questions within a prescribed time limit. There were five series of questions amounting to an overall total of 100 questions.

Thirty four teams entered the competition, including representatives of Burnley and Nottingham Forest Supporters Clubs. There were also three teams from the London Irish Network. The Luton Branch of the Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club took part and the Dublin Branch contributed two teams.

The quiz was interspersed with a raffle which also contributed to the charity. Among the raffle prizes were two pairs of tickets for the upcoming Dublin City Ramblers appearance at Hennessy’s Bar in Kingsbury on Saturday 10 February 2007, which were kindly donated by the management.

The club is also most appreciative of the donation by fabled Irish International footballer Liam Brady. He very kindly donated a pair of tickets for the FA Cup tie between Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers. The tickets were auctioned with Frank Glynn finally fending off the resolute challenge of Noel McNevin to win the tickets. Charity Quiz 2007At the end of the five rounds of forensic like examination, the winning team was Colm Finnegan and Billy O’Rourke, who had earlier in the day travelled from their Wicklow base to support the event on behalf of ROISSC Dublin.

The top five scores were:

Colm Finnegan / Billy O’Rourke

60 Points:

Ian McGreavy / Mark McCoy

57 Points:

57 Points:

The evening raised a magnificent £1,140 for Cystinosis Foundation Ireland and a sincere thank you is extended to all who contributed to the success of the event by their attendance.

Grateful thanks is also extended to those club members who have made donations, even though they were unable to be present on the night.
