Ireland commence UEFA U17 Finals with defeat…05/05/2018
Ireland commenced their 2018 UEFA U17 Championship challenge when they went down to a two nil defeat by Belgium in their opening Group C encounter on Saturday evening in the Loughborough University Stadium. Ireland entered the finals as top qualifying seeds but a very poor performance belied that status. Fellow Group C rivals, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Denmark met at the same venue earlier in the afternoon with Bosnia coming from behind to secure a three two victory.
Friday night in the Airtricity League Premier Division
The Airtricity League Premier Division continued on Friday evening with current leaders Dundalk going down to a two one defeat at third place Waterford in the Regional Sports Centre. Bottom side Bray Wanderers defeated visitors Derry City by two goals to one in the Carlisle Grounds while Dublin rivals, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shamrock Rovers locked horns in Richmond Park with the hosts prevailing by two goals to nil.

The Premier League continued on Friday evening with Shane Duffy and his Brighton & Hove Albion colleagues earning a deserved one nil victory over Manchester United in the Amex Stadium to guarantee their survival in the Premier League for next season.
