Dundalk overcame visitors UCD by two goals to nil in Oriel Park. St Patrick’s Athletic manager Tim Clancy faced his former club Drogheda United who held their hosts to a one all draw in Richmond Park. Defending champions Shamrock Rovers secured a comfortable three nil success at Finn Harps while Shelbourne and Damian Duff were also successful in the North West as they defeated Sligo Rovers with the only goal in The Showgrounds.
