Irish Clubs in Europa League second leg contests

Holding a one nil advantage from the first leg, Dundalk defeated Levadia Tallinn of Estonia by two goals to one in the second leg of the first qualifying round of the 2019 UEFA Europa League in Oriel Park on Thursday evening with first half goals from Pat Hoban and Michael Duffy putting them in comfortable command. The ‘Lilywhites’ will now face AEK Larnaca of Cyprus in the second qualifying round with the first leg scheduled for Oriel Park on Thursday the 26th July.

Shamrock Rovers travelled to face AIK of Sweden in the Friends Arena, Solna where an early goal from Dan Carr levelled the tie and ultimately took the contest to extra-time where sadly the hosts scored an early winner.

Derry City faced a huge task in seeking to overturn a two nil first leg deficit when they travelled to face Dinamo Minsk in Belarus but boosted by a seventh minute goal from Alastair Roy they put their hosts under pressure but this was relieved by a twenty eight minute equaliser. The ‘Candystripes’ continued to battle and Ronan Hale’s seventy fifth minute goal gave them renewed hope but it was not to be on this accasion.
