Shamrock Rovers travelled south and defeated hosts Waterford in the RSC by two goals to nil. Defending champions Dundalk overcame struggling Cork City by three goals to nil in Oriel Park while Bohemian defeated Sligo Rovers by two goals to nil in Dalymount Park. The St Patrick’s Athletic v Derry City and Finn Harps v Shelbourne contests were the casualties of the weather.
