Match Series Four in the Airtricity League Premier Division took place on Friday evening with four completed fixtures. RTE 2 brought live coverage of the top of the table clash between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk from Tallaght Stadium where the hosts came from behind to record a three two victory and go three points clear at the top of the table. Cork City scored their first goal of the season to earn their first points with a one nil victory over visitors Finn Harps in Turner’s Cross. Derry City defeated Bohemian by two goals to nil in the Brandywell while Shelbourne came out on top with the only goal against St Patrick’s Athletic in Tolka Park.
The contest scheduled for Saturday evening between Sligo Rovers and Waterford has been postponed in light of the weather warning issued in relation to the incoming Storm Jorge.
There were also four fixtures completed in match series two of the Airtricity League First Division. Athlone Town went down to a three one defeat by visitors Cabinteely while Bray Wanderers were two nil victors over Wexford in the Carlisle Grounds. Drogheda United and Longford Town locked horns at United Park with the visitors scoring the only goal for victory. UCD also scored the only goal to collect the points against visitors Cobh Ramblers at the Bowl.
The remaining fixture between Shamrock Rovers II and Galway United took place at Tallaght Stadium on Saturday afternoon and ended in a one all draw.
