There was a full programme of fixtures played in both the Premier Division and First Division of the Airtricity League this Friday evening before the mid-season break which runs from Saturday 29 May to Thursday 9 June.
Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers increased their lead at the summit with a two nil victory over Shelbourne in Tallaght Stadium while Derry City were held to a two all draw by visitors Finn Harps. Dundalk climbed up to second place with a one nil victory over St Patrick’s Athletic in Oriel Park. Bohemian and Drogheda United played out a one all draw in Dalymount Park as also did UCD and visitors Sligo Rovers in The Bowl.

Eamonn Deacy Park hosted the clash of the First Division top duo with Cork City leapfrogging their hosts Galway United with the only goal for victory. Third place Waterford consolidated their position with a four nil defeat of Treaty United at the RSC while Bray Wanderers overcame visitors Athlone Town by three goals to nil in the Carlisle Grounds. St Colman’s Park hosted the remaining fixture which saw visitors Longford Town defeat their hosts Cobh Ramblers by four goals to two.
