Cyrus Christie was on the Fulham bench for their three nil defeat of visitors Sheffield United whose Enda Stevens is another hopeful of an international call. Preston North End duo Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne started with Brown opening the scoring for the hosts while Sean Maguire was introduced from the bench to score the winner in their two one victory over visitors Bristol City for whom Callum O’Dowda remains on the injury list. Reading midfielder Liam Kelly is another candidate for the senior squad and his club played out a one all draw with visitors Bolton Wanderers. International veterans John O’Shea and Aiden McGeady started for Sunderland who went down to a three nil defeat by visitors Aston Villa for whom Conor Hourihane, Scott Hogan and Glenn Whelan all started. O’Shea on forty five minutes and Whelan on sixty minutes were forced off through injury.
