The final series of league fixtures in the 2018 Championship regular season took place early on Sunday afternoon with Cardiff City (Anthony Pilkington) securing second place and promotion in a scoreless draw with visitors Reading (Liam Kelly, Paul McShane).

The play-offs for the third promotion place will be contested by third place Fulham (Cyrus Christie) who went down to a three one defeat at Birmingham City, fourth place Aston Villa (Conor Hourihane, Scott Hogan, Glenn Whelan), who lost to the only goal, a Shaun Williams penalty, at Millwall (Aiden O’Brien, Shaun Williams), fifth place Middlesbrough (Darren Randolph) who drew two all at Ipswich Town and sixth place Derby County (Richard Keogh, Alex Pearce), four one victors over Barnsley who have been relegated alongside Burton Albion who went down to a two one defeat at Preston North End (Greg Cunningham, Alan Browne, Sean Maguire, Callum Robinson) with new Ireland declaree Robinson scoring the opening goal.
