Aston Villa, stunned by their midweek home defeat by QPR, journey to Bolton Wanderers for the 5.30pm kick-off in the Championship on Saturday afternoon with Conor Hourihane starting and Scott Hogan on the substitute bench. Brentford had John Egan in their startting eleven with Alan Judge a very late substitute as they played out a one all draw with visitors Middlesbrough and Darren Randolph. Midweek goalscorer Enda Stevens started for Sheffield United who were held to a scoreless draw by visitors Nottingham Forest. John O’Shea started for Sunderland who went down to a two nil defeat by visitors Preston North End, for whom Sean Maguire opened the scoring. Alan Brown also started but Daryl Horgan did not feature in the matchday squad while injury ruled out Greg Cunningham. Another midweek goalscorer, Matt Doherty was in action for Wolverhampton Wanderers who defeated Burton Albion by three goals to one at Molineaux. Liam Kelly scored one and created a second for Reading who went down to a three two defeat at Norwich City.
