Norwich City (Wes Hoolihan) went down by two goals to one against Sheffield United (Enda Stevens) at Carrow Road. Preston North End (Greg Cunningham, Alan Browne, Daryl Horgan) drerw one each with Birmingham City at Deepdale while QPR went down to a three nil home defeat by Middlesbrough (Darren Randolph, Cyrus Christie). Reading (Liam Kelly) suffered a one nil home defeat by Brentford with Martin O’Neill rumoured to be a possible attendee. Sunderland (John O’Shea, Aiden McGeady) scored the only goal for victory over Hull City (David Meyler, Will Keane) at the Stadium of Light while leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers (Matt Doherty) suffered a shock two nil home defeat by Nottingham Forest.
