Ireland’s Euro 2020 opener will take place in Gibraltar

Ireland’s Euro 2020 opener against Gibraltar will take place in Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.

Mick McCarthy’s first match back in charge of the Boys In Green on March 23 had originally being pencilled in for Victoria Stadium but UEFA intervened due to lack of adequate facilities.

The Gibraltar FA were given a deadline to bring their ground up to scratch or move elsewhere, with Faro the most likely destination. But the FAI today confirmed that the upgrades have been completed and the match will proceed as planned in Victoria Stadium.
