Last gasp victory for U21s in European qualifier

A goal from Yeovil Town defender Shaun Donnellan, nine minutes into added time and the final action of the match, secured a one nil victory for our Ireland U21 side in their European Championship qualifying contest with Azerbaijan in Tallaght Stadium this evening. Despite dominating for much of the match, Ireland simply could not find the net until that dramatic finale. Ireland now move into second place in Group Five, three points behind leaders Germany, who were held to a scoreless draw in Kosova today, but with a match in hand. There is now a lengthy wait before Ireland travel to face Kosova on Friday the 7th September before taking on Germany in Tallaght Stadium four days later on Tuesday the 11th September.
