The Burnley duo of Stephen Ward and Kevin Long started while Jeff Hendrick was a late substitute in their scoreless draw with visitors Shane Duffy and Brighton & Hove Albion while Seamus Coleman and his Everton colleagues secured a two nil success at Huddersfield Town. Ciaran Clark was again an unused substitute for Newcastle United who lost to the only goal for West Bromwich Albion and James McClean at St James Park while Shane Long was a sixtieth minute substitute for Southampton who defeated South Coast rivals AFC Bournemouth by two goals to one at St Mary’s Stadium.
