Championship
The Championship marathon continued on Tuesday evening with Blackburn Rovers who included Darragh Lenihan and Derrick Williams in their starting eleven, defeated visitors Derby County and Richard Keogh by two goals to nil at Ewood Park. Preston North End included Alan Browne, Sean Maguire and Callum Robinson in their starting eleven as they went down to a two nil defeat by visitors Leeds United for whom Ireland target Patrick Bamford scored both goals. Sheffield Wednesday and Keiren Westwood secured a three nil success over visitors Nottingham Forest and late substitute Daryl Murphy at Hillsborough. Bolton Wanderers included Luca Connell in their starting eleven as they went down to a two nil defeat by visitors  Middlesbrough for whom Darren Randolph was in goal. James McClean scored on the stroke of half-time for Stoke City but it was to no avail as their hosts Swansea City scored three times for victory. Stoke had two players dismissed which did not help their cause while seventeen year old defender Nathan Collins made his senior debut as a 64th minute substitute.

League One
Sunderland, for whom Aiden McGeady was seemingly rested while Jimmy Dunne was an unused substitute, stumbled in their promotion challenge with a one all home League One draw with Burton Albion in the Stadium of Light this Tuesday evening while fellow promotion challengers Charlton Athletic secured a one nil victory at Wycombe Wanderers with West Ham United loanee Josh Cullen in sparkling form.
