Airtricity League weekend action…09/08/2020

Premier Division
Match Series 7 in the Airtricity League Premier Division kicked-off at 5.45pm on Friday afternoon in Dalymount Park with hosts Bohemian scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes and then holding out for a two one victory over Dundalk to supersede them in
second place on the league table. Later, at 7.45pm in Richmond Park, St Patrick’s Athletic defeated visitors Finn Harps by two goals to nil.

On Saturday afternoon, Waterford returned to action as they played out a scoreless draw with RSC visitors Cork City. Later in the day,  Sligo Rovers defeated visitors Shelbourne by two goals to one in the Showgrounds to move off the bottom of the League Table. 

The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium hosted the clash of Derry City and Shamrock Rovers on Sunday afternoon and witnessed the visitors recovering from going behind with two quick goals in the closing stages to maintain their 100% record.

First Division
There were three Match Series 5 fixtures played on Friday evening in the Airtricity League First Division. Drogheda United defeated Bray Wanderers by three goals to one in United Park. UCD were victors over Shamrock Rovers II by the same three one score in the Bowl. Current leaders Cabinteely dropped their first points of the season when held to a scoreless draw by hosts Wexford in Ferrycarrig Park.

On Saturday evening Cobh Ramblers and Galway United played out a two all draw in St Colman’s Park while Longford Town defeated Midland rivals Athlone Town by two goals to nil in Bishopsgate.
