Sides level in Glasgow testimonial…20/05/2018

The Ireland starting eleven to face Glasgow Celtic in the Scott Brown Testimonial match at Celtic Park this Sunday afternoon was:- Colin Doyle; Seamus Coleman, John Egan, Darragh Lenihan, Derrick Williams; Callum O’Dowda, Alan Browne, Shaun Williams, James McClean; Sean Maguire, Jonathan Walters.

The sides were level at half-time with Alan Browne having put Ireland in front after just two minutes with Leigh Griffiths scoring the equaliser on forty two minutes. Callum O’Dowda put Ireland back in front on fifty eight minutes but Patrick Roberts equalised two minutes later to end the scoring.

Substitutes, Conor O’Malley (C Doyle), Greg Cunningham (D Williams), Matt Doherty (J Egan), Enda Stevens (D Lenihan), Graham Burke (S Williams) and Callum Robinson (J Walters) were all introduced around the hour mark.

Airtricity League Premier Division, Saturday…19/05/2018

Shamrock Rovers striker Graham Burke travels with his colleagues to face Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds in the Airtricity League Premier Division on Saturday evening before travelling to Glasgow on Sunday morning where he will link up with the Republic of Ireland Select Squad which will face Glasgow Celtic in the Scott Brown Testimonial in Celtic Park at 2pm that afternoon.

Airtricity League Premier Division action on Friday

There were four matches with twenty two goals in the Airtricity League Premier Division this Friday evening. Current leaders Dundalk made the short journey to Dalymount Park and secured a two nil victory over hosts Bohemian while second place Cork City defeated basement outfit Bray Wanderers by four goals to nil in Turner’s Cross. Third place Waterford went down to a shock six three home defeat by Limerick in the Regional Sports Centre. Improving St Patrick’s Athletic continued their rise with a five two demolition of Derry City in Richmond Park.

U16s at UEFA Development Tournament in Sweden

Led by Head Coach Paul Osam, an Ireland U16 squad of twenty has travelled to Sweden to compete in a Quadangular Tournament. In their opening contest the side went down to a two nil deferat by the hosts in Lysekill at 5.30pm on Friday afternoon. They next take on Austria at 2pm on Sunday in Stenungsund before completing their involvement at 10am on Tuesday morning against Turkey in Munkedal.
