The Premier League continued on Thursday evening with Kevin Long and Stephen Ward starting for Burnley while Jeff Hendrick was an unused substitute in their two one defeat by visitors Chelsea. Southampton included Shane Long, who has taken quite a battering in their last two Premier League contests, in their starting eleven for their scoreless draw at Leicester City. League One promotion challengers Blackburn Rovers had Daragh Lenihan and Derrick Williams in their starting eleven for their three one defeat of visitors Peterborough United for whom goalkeeper Conor O’Malley started while Chris Forrester was an unused substitute.

Monday night in the Airtricity League Premier Division

The Airtricity League Premier Division continued on Monday evening with Bray Wanderers providing a huge shock with their first win of the season, a one nil defeat of Shamrock Rovers in the Carlisle Grounds. Meanwhile Derry City moved up to third place with a three one victory over visitors Bohemian in the Brandywell. Also in action were St Patrick’s Athletic who scored the only goal to defeat visitors Waterford in Richmond Park.

Irish womens’s centre back Louise Quinn scored the added time winner for Arsenal Ladies which secured a two one victory over Everton Ladies and sends them to the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday the 5th May 2018.
