Third place Leeds United included rumoured Ireland target Patrick Bamford in their starting eleven for the Championship visit of struggling Bolton Wanderers this Saturday afternoon and he converted a sixteenth minute penalty in their two one victory. Middlesbrough and Darren Randolph play host to QPR for whom Ryan Manning started this afternoon having spent the great majority of his time since his loan recall on the substitute bench. Manning was withdrawn at half-time and his side went down to a two nil defeat. Millwall included Shaun Williams in their starting eleven with Aiden O’Brien and Derby County loanee Alex Pearce unused on the substitute bench for the visit of Preston North End and their duo of Alan Browne and Sean Maguire. The visitors secured  a three one victory with Maguire scoring the third goal in front of watching Ireland manager Mick McCarthy. Current leaders Norwich City played host to Bristol City and Callum O’Dowda and secured a three two victory to retain top spot. O’Dowda scored  the second goal for the visitors.  Keiren Westwood and Sheffield Wednesday defeated visitors Swansea City by three goals to one at Hillsborough. With Ireland Assistant Manager Terry Connor in attendance, James McClean and Stoke City played out a one all draw with  misfiring Aston Villa who included Conor Hourihane and Glenn Whelan in their starting eleven. Anthony Pilkington and his Wigan Athletic colleagues drew one each with their visitors, basement side Ipswich Town who included Alan Judge and Will Keane in their starting eleven with Keane converting from the penalty spot. The 5.30pm kick-off featured fourth place West Bromwich Albion in opposition to second place Sheffield United for whom, John Egan, Enda Stevens and David McGoldrick started while Aston Villa loanee Scott Hogan was unused on the substitute bench as they secured a one nil victory. There was disappointment for Egan who was withdrawn through injury at half-time.
