Colin Bell leaves Senior Women’s position…30/06/2019

Colin Bell, Head Coach of the Republic of Ireland Senior Women’s Team has resigned his position and leaves to take up a senior coaching role with Huddersfield Town in the English Championship.

The news comes as a bitter blow to the senior women as the upward progression under the guidance of Bell was quite uplifting.

In a brief statement, Bell confirmed that he was unable to agree the future pathway of Women’s football in Ireland with the FAI. Bell had presented a programme of progression to the Association but they were unable to accede to his proposals at this time. It is very likely that the current situation in which the Association is embroiled and the attendant fiscal challenges played a significant part in their inability to reach an agreement.

The Association will now embark on a search for Bell‘s successor which needs to be swift with our opening EURO 2021 qualifier against Montenegro set for Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday 3rd September 2019
