There was a full programme of domestic league fixtures completed on Friday evening with champions elect Shamrock Rovers defeating Sligo Rovers in Tallaght Stadium by two goals to nil. Second place St Patrick’s Athletic journied North to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium where they lost to the only goal from fourth place Derry City who move to within one point of Sligo Rovers. Dalymount Park hosted the meeting of Bohemian and Dundalk which ended in a one all draw while Waterford defeated visitors Finn Harps by four goals to one in the RSC. The remaining match saw Drogheda United defeat relegation bound Longford Town by two goals to nil at Head in the Game Park.

There was a full set of Airtricity League First Division fixtures played on Friday evening with already crowned champions Shelbourne making the journey South to take on Cobh Ramblers in St Colman’s Park where they suffered a two nil defeat. Second place Galway United defeated bottom side Wexford by two goals to one in Eamonn Deacy Park while third place UCD overcame visitors Cork City with the only goa at The Bowl. Fourth place Treaty United were held to a one all draw by Athlone Town in the Market Field while fifth place Bray Wanderers suffered a surprise two one defeat by Cabinteely at the Carlisle Grounds.
