The 2018 Airtricity Leagues season commenced this Friday evening with defending champions Cork City getting off to a flying start with a three two victory at St Patrick’s Athletic, while Dundalk were held to a scoreless draw by Bray Wanderers in Oriel Park. The RTE 2 cameras brought live action from Dalymount Park where bitter Dublin rivals Bohemian and Shamrock Rovers went head to head with the hosts coming from behind to secure a three one victory. Promoted First Division champions Waterford welcomed Derry City to the RSC for their opening Premier Division challenge and emerged victorious by two goals to one.

There were two Premier League versus Championship FA Cup fifth round ties played on Friday evening. Leicester City scored the only goal to defeat Sheffield United who included Enda Stevens and Samir Carriuhers in their starting eleven while Chelsea crushed visitors Hull City, for whom David Meyler started at right back, by four goals to nil.
Ireland start Centenary Shield with victory…15/02/2018
Our Ireland Schools side commenced their 2018 Centenary Shield campaign with a two one victory over Wales at Cefn Druids FC this Thursday evening. Goals from captain Cian Murphy and Daryl Walsh secured the deserved success. Certain some of our Club members might consider a trip to Kenilworth Stadium, the home of Luton Town FC when Ireland will next be in action against England on Friday the 16th March 2018 at 7pm.

Under 19 Head Coach Tom Mohan saw his side secure a two one victory over Romania in their second friendly international played in La Manga, Spain this Thursday afternoon. Both second half goals were scored by Wexford FC striker Aaron Dobbs.

U19s defeat Romania in La Manga on Tuesday afternoon…13/02/2018
With the European Championship Elite Stage on the March horizon, Ireland U19 Head Coach Tom Mohan has taken a twenty man squad to La Manga in Spain where they defeated Romania by one goal to nil in a friendly international this afternoon. The goal was scored by centre back and captain Dara O’Shea currently on loan at Hereford United from West Bromwich Albion. The second contest between the two sides is set for Thursday morning at 11am.

Ireland’s U17 squad, with Head Coach Colin O’Brien at the helm, continued preparation for next month’s European Championship Elite Stage when they scored an added time equaliser through Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrot to earn a one all draw with Turkey in Eamonn Deacy Park, Galway this evening. Weather permitting, the sides are set to meet again in the same venue at 1pm on Thursday afternoon.
