The Championship and League One on Saturday…24/08/2019

Championship
Match series five in the Championship kicked-off at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon when Derby County (Richard Keogh, Jason Knight) played out a one all draw with visitors West Bromwich Albion (Dara O’Shea)in Pride Park. Keogh and Knight both started and impressed but O’Shea was an unused substitute. Luton Town (James Collins) travelled to Barnsley for a 3pm encounter and secured a three one victory with Collins scoring the second goal after just five minutes. Ewood Park hosted the meeting of Blackburn Rovers (Daragh Lenihan, Derrick Williams) and Cardiff City which ended scoreless. Charlton Athletic (Josh Cullen) scored the only goal to defeat Brentford at the Valley while Fulham (Harry Arter, Cyrus Christie) went down to a two one home defeat by Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage. Bristol City (Callum O’Dowda) travelled to face Hull City where they secured
a three one victory but O’Dowda was an unused substitute. Middlesbrough (Darren Randolph) were held to a one all draw by visitors Millwall (Alex Pearce, Aiden O’Brien, Shaun Williams, Jayson Molumby) at the Riverside Stadium where Pearce, O’Brien and Williams started but Molumby was unused on the bench.  Preston North End (Alan Browne, Joe Rafferty, Sean Maguire) secured a two one home success over Sheffield Wednesday (Keiren Westwood)at Deepdale where all four Irishmen started with Maguire earning the two penalties which gave the ‘Lilywhites’ victory. QPR (Ryan Manning) came from behind to defeat visitors Wigan Athletic by three goals to one at Loftus Road. Stoke City (James McClean, Scott Hogan, Nathan Collins) went down to a three nil defeat by early leaders Leeds United in the Bet365 Stadium where Collins and McClean started with Hogan a 60th minute substitute. 

League One
Doncaster Rovers (Ian Lawlor, Kieran Sadlier) defeated Lincoln City by two goals to one in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon in League One. Struggling Bolton Wanderers were crushed five nil byu Ipswich Town (Alan Judge) in the Macron Stadium where Judge completed the full ninety minutes. Shrewsbury Town (Max O’Leary) and Burton Albion (Kieran O’Hara) played out a scoreless draw at the New Meadow, meaning both goalkeepers kept clean sheets.
