The Airtricity League Premier Division resumed this Friday evening with the top two, Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic, facing each other in Tallaght Stadium where the hosts ran out convincing winners by three goals to one. Also in action were Drogheda United and Waterford who met at Head in the Game Park wher the visiting ‘Blues’ prevailed by two goals to one.
Bishopsgate hosted the meeting of Longford Town and Derry City on Saturday evening where the visiting ‘Candystripes’ secured a two nil victory .
Following their European progression, the scheduled Monday fixtures involving Bohemian and Dundalk against Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers have been postponed.

Athlone Town went down to a four one defeat by visitors Treaty United while near neighbours Cabinteely and Bray Wanderers met at Stradbrook where the visitors prevailed by three goals to nil. Cork City and UCD shared two goals in Turner’s Cross while Galway United defeated their hosts Wexford by three goals to one in Ferrycarrig Park. Runaway leaders Shelbourne were surprisingly held to a two all draw by visitors Cobh Ramblers in Tolka Park.
