Scottish Premiership Champions Glasgow Celtic completed their league season with an emphatic six nil victory in their  home contest against Motherwell. The first leg of the Championship play-off semi-final between Sheffield United  and Nottingham Forest took place at Bramall Lane where the visitors dominated taking a two goal lead but an added time goal from the host ‘Blades’ may offer some hope of a response in the second leg at the City Ground next week. John Egan and Enda Stevens started for the hosts while loanee Conor Hourihane was an unused  substitute.

Sunday
The Premier League offered some interesting contests on Sunday with Tottenham Hotspur challenging for fourth place and a Champions League spot scoring the only goal from the penalty spot to defeat visitors Burnley who are fighting relegation. The visiting ‘Clarets’ included Kevin Long and Nathan Collins in their starting eleven while Dara Costelloe was an unused substitute. Everton and Seamus Coleman, who are also fighting relegation, welcomed Brentford to Goodison Park where the ‘Toffees’ took an early lead but then suffered  a red card dismissal on 19 minutes. Thereafter the visitors took command to run out three two victors. Leeds United, the third club in the relegation hot zone, scored an added time equaliser to secure a point against Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road where Shane Duffy and Evan Ferguson were unused substitutes for the visitors.

Loanee Jake O’Brien was an added time substitute for Swindon Town who take a two one first leg lead to  Port Vale for the second leg of the League Two semi-final play-off.

Josh Cullen and RSC Anderlecht went down to a two nil defeat by visitors Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian First Division.
