2020 Extra.IE FAI Cup First Round…11/08/2020


As a consequence of the Covid 19 situation, the 2020 Extra.IE FAI Cup will this year consist only of the nineteen Airtricity League Clubs, with no non-league representation.

The first round, comprising three ties, took place on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Monday 10 August   Finn Harps 1-0 St Patrick’s Athletic  
Tuesday 11 August  Cork City 1-0 Longford Town [aet]            
Tuesday 11 August  Dundalk 1-0 Waterford                   

Finn Harps are through to the second round of the 2020 FAI Cup following their one nil victory over St Patrick’s Athletic in Finn Park this Monday evening. The winning goal came in the 5th minute courtesy of Ryan Connolly. Both contests on Tuesday evening ended in one nil victories for the hosts with Dundalk being given a torrid time by visitors Waterford while down in Turner’s Cross the hosts Cork City, who were reduced to ten men midway through the second half following a dismissal, scored the winning goal in added time at the end of extra-time.

The second round draw is scheduled to take place at the FAI Headquarters in Abbotstown at noon on Wednesday and will be made by Ireland manager Stephen Kenny.
