Friday
Southampton continued their fine form with a two nil Premier League victory over visitors Norwich City in St Mary’s Stadium this evening. Shane Long was an 83rd minute substitute for the ‘Saints’.  

Thursday
Glasgow Celtic were in Norway for the second leg of their European Conference contest with Boda/Glimpt and following their three one first leg loss suffered  a two nil defeat to exit the competition. Liam Scales started but endured a very tough evening while James McCarthy was introduced from the substitute bench on 76 minutes and probably wished he had remained there.  

Wednesday
Burnley duo Nathan Collins and Kevin Long were unused substitutes for their one nil Premier League victory over visitors Tottenham Hotspur for whom Matt Doherty was also unused on the bench.

Derby County included Jason Knight, Festy Ebosele and Eiran Cashin in their starting eleven for their two one Championship defeat by visitors Millwall and Danny McNamara. Troubled Peterborough United and Sam Szmodics went down to a two one defeat by leaders Fulham at Craven Cottage. Cardiff City included Mark McGuinness and Joel Bagan in their starting eleven for their their two one defeat at Huddersfield Town. QPR included Jimmy Dunne , who scored the opening goal, and loanee Jeff Hendrick in their starting eleven for their two one victory over visitors Blackpool. Bramall Lane hosted the meeting of Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers with John Egan starting and loanee Conor Hourihane unused on the bench for the ‘Blades’ who scored the added time winner despite being reduced  to ten men early in the second half. Captain Darragh Lenihan returned to the visitors starting eleven following suspension.

Tuesday
Hull City included Sean McLoughlin in their starting eleven for their surprise two nil defeat by visitors Barnsley in the Championship. Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Aaron Connolly was in the Middlesbrough side which came from behind to defeat visitors West Bromwich Albion by two goals to one. Irish duo Dara O’Shea and loanee Jayson Molumby both started with Molumby scoring the Albion goal while Callum Robinson  was a 76th minute substitute. Preston North End and Alan Browne played out a scoreless  draw with visitors Nottingham Forest at Deepdale. Reading included young Kian Leavy on their substitute bench for their two one victory over visitors Birmingham City.
 
League One 
continued this evening with MK Dons and their trio of Warren O’Hora and loanees Conor Coventry and Troy Parrott securing a two nil victory at Charlton Athletic. Also on the road  were Oxford United who included Mark Sykes and Luke McNally in their starting eleven for their one nil success at Crewe Alexandra. Loanee Ademipo Odubeko was a 65th minute substitute for Doncaster Rovers who defeated visitors Accrington Stanley by two goals to nil. Current leaders Rotherham United who overcame visitors Morecambe by two goals to nil introduced Chiedoze Ogbene as a 58th minute substitute while Joshua Kayode remained on their bench. There was a road trip to Shrewsbury Town for Portsmouth who included loanee Gavin Bazunu, Ronan Curtis,
Sean Raggett and loanee Aiden O’Brien in their starting eleven with Marcus Harness a half-time substitute in their  two one victory. Sunderland and Dennis Cirkin were held to a one all draw by Burton Albion in the Stadium of Light. Wycombe Wanderers went down to a three one home defeat by was an 8pm kick-off for the meeting of Bolton Wanderers and Lincoln City with Anthony Scully in action with the visitors who suffered  a three one defeat in which half-time substitute Kieran Sadlier scored.     

Crystal Palace loanee Jake O’Brien was in League Two action with Swindon Town who crushed visitors Walsall by five goals to nil at the County Ground.
