Midweek Round Four action in EFL Cup…30/10/2019

Midlands duo, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers were in EFL Cup action at Villa Park this Wednesday evening where Conor Hourihane started for the hosts who go through to the quarter-finals following a two one victory. Also in action was goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher who started for Liverpool who played host to Arsenal. The match provided a plethora of drama with the scores level at five goals each at the end of ninety minutes. Liverpool prevailed by five goals to four in the penalty shoot-out with Kelleher making a fine save from the Dani Ceballos spot kick. 

Goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara, on loan at League One Burton Albion from Manchester United, was in the side and performed well against the Premier League armoury of Leicester City who prevailed by three goals to one in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening. Struggling Premier League sides Everton and Watford met at Goodison Park with captain Seamus Coleman returning as expected to the ‘Toffees’ starting eleven as they secured a two nil victory. Southampton, humiliated by Leicester City in the Premier League last Friday, travelled in some trepidation to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium where Shane Long was named in the starting eleven but was substituted after 68 minutes as the ‘Saints’ went down to a three one defeat
